Ex PP councillor, Lius Fernando Cartagena, faces a two million Euro fine

The ex Mayor of Orihuela is accused of defrauding more than half a million € from the Spanish tax authorities.

The Alicante Anti-Corruption Prosecutor, Felipe Briones, is calling for a three year prison sentence and a two million € fine for the ex PP Councillor, Luis Fernando Cartagena, who is facing charges of defrauding hacienda tax authorities to the tune of half a million €, some 83.6 million pesetas.

The prosecutor also wants to see assets embargoed to ensure the amount owed is paid.

The instruction judge in Orihuela has completed the first stage of the case which has been investigating the assets of the ex public works councillor and Mayor of Orihuela between the years 1995 and 1998.
