The Albéniz Cinema saved, for a while in Málaga

The building is to be compulsory purchased by the City Hall, and had planned to close tomorrow, Sunday.

The outrage, or the sadness was such, that the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, has personally intervened and so the Albéniz Cinema in Málaga does not have to close this weekend.

The four screen cinema currently is the only place in the city showing independent films, and is shortly to be expropriated by the City Hall for redevelopment into another theatre for Málaga.

Now though the staff who had been sacked have been given their jobs back and the centre will continue to show films until the re-development work actually starts under the new municipal ownership.
