A man failed to stop at a routine Guardia control in the early hours of Wednesday.

25 police cars were involved in a massive police chase in Valencia today, in an attempt to trap a driver who had escaped the scene of a control point at 190km/hour.

The chase started in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Canet d’en Berenguer and continued through the streets of Valencia, finally coming to an end when the police shot into the air and the 42 year old man was hit in the eye, either directly or from a ricochet, and crashed into a palm tree.

Several local police, national police and private cars were damaged during the chase. The driver is recovering in the Clínico Hospital in Valencia.
