email this article The ex Valencia and Spain goalkeeper, Santiago Cañizares, has been called to declare in a sexual abuse case, the so-called Caso del Brujo. The man who started the season in the top flight of the Spanish league being Valencia’s goalkeeper for some ten years, has ended the season out of the club and now facing accusations that he had sexual relations with a minor.
His name was mentioned by one of the 15 girls, some of them underage, who claim to be victims of sexual aggression in the case, but his lawyer, Alberto Toldrá, says he is simply the victim of a false accusation in a case where the only attention of the accuser is to draw more media attention to the matter.
The case centres on a 53 year old man, Tomás A.R., known as the Brujo, or Warlock, who allegedly pretended to be a psychologist, and who has been imprisoned since February last year accused of abusing girls aged between 11 and 22.
The case is being heard by judge Pablo Mendoza, from Instruction Court 3 in Ibiza.
