The measure affects Álora, Cártama, Pizarra, Coin, Alhaurin de la Torre, Alhaurin el Grande and Málaga city.
The junta says that it has 12,000 swimming pools in the area on its census and those who fail to comply with the restriction could face 6,000 € fines, according to the Director General of the Cuenca Mediterránea Andaluza, Antonio Rodríguez Leal.
Meanwhile the Junta has also issued a warning about the high risk of forest and campo fires in the Axarquía region. It comes as the new Infoca fire-prevention plan gets underway with a budget of 20 million € and a full fire-fighting team of 4,000.
