Local hoteliers say that foreign clients have saved the early part of the year in the region.

Foreign tourists visiting the Costa Blanca between January and April this year spent 6% more in the region than over the same period last year, at about 900 million €.

The average foreign tourist left 835 € in the region, 35 € more than the average Spaniard according to the data from the Ministry for Industry and Tourism.

Hoteliers on the Costa Blanca are saying that it is the foreign clients who are saving the season, although they add that price is still key.

Nationally foreign tourists spent 12.176 billion in Spain over the first four months of the year, a number also up 6.2%.
