Marbella offers free course on red palm weevil

The red palm weevil first appeared in Europe in Spain in Almuñecar in 1994. It has desimated palm trees in many parts of hte country.

Marbella Town Hall Parks and Garden department is organising a workshop on the prevention and fight against the red palm weevil. The course is aimed at individuals, communities and gardeners and will take place on the evenings of June 16 and 17 in collaboration with the Estación Phoenix in Elche, the research centre for the date palm and oasis agriculture.

Those interested in attending are invited to contact Marbella Town Hall parks and garden department on 952761143 for more information. The two day course is free and requires no registration. It takes place between 4,30pm and 6,30pm over the two days in the Palacio de Congresos in Marbella.
