Airport mechanic dies, sucked into jet engine in Tenerife

A full investigation has been opened into the death of the man.

An airport operative died in Tenerife Sur airport at 10pm on Monday night when he was sucked into a jet engine on a plane belonging to the LTE charter company. It happened when he was inspecting the plane and testing the engine ahead of take-off.

He died instantly with his body being shredded by the force of the turbine. The Judicial Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
