Catalan biker Alex Pons seriously injured in Jerez

The 16 year old son of Sito Pons, Catalan biker Axel Pons, will need some six months to recover from a dramatic accident at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit on Sunday. It happened in one of the 125cc rounds in the Spanish Championship when the biker was hit by another motorbike when he tried to stand up after falling himself.
He has a broken pelvis, two broken legs and has blood in his lungs. He thanked doctors and his fans for their support in a statement released today, and says now he is thinking only in recovery.
Doctors say he will be in observation for at least 48 hours.
