The fire affected 300 hectares of the La Peña mountain and 194 people had to be evacuated.

Six forestry workers have been arrested for their implication in a forest fire which affected the La Peña mountain Tarifa on Wednesday afternoon this week.

The six are accused of negligence as investigations continue as to how exactly the fire started.
194 people had to be evacuated from hotels, camping sites and homes in the area and 300 hectares was affected by the blaze.

The strong levante wind in the area at the time complicated the job for the fire-fighters. Regional Government Environment Delegate for Cádiz, Gemma Araujo, said that the 300 hectares affected by two active fronts was inside the Los Alcornocales Nature Park.
