email this article Union UGT notes that those who work in her regional administration in Madrid only received a 2 percent wage rise this year. The PP Regional President of Madrid, Esperanza Aguirre, whose hard line was sidestepped by the party leader Mariano Rajoy at the party conference in Valencia last weekend, announced on Friday that she was going to freeze her wages as a gesture of austerity in the current financial crisis.
But 20 minutos.es reports that she forgot to say that she had obtained a 7% wage increase just a few months before. Her wage, as placed in the regional budgets for this year is 108,311€ ujp 7% on last year, according to union UGT.
The union notes that 160,000 workers in her regional administration have meanwhile had to do with a 2% wage increase. The union says therefore everyone should get the 7% and Aguirre should ‘stop offending by such cynical acts’.
