The 22 year old had previously managed to escape from a previous arrest earlier this month.

A 22 year old British man has been arrested by the local police in Orihuela for having stolen a car in Britain and then been driving the vehicle in Spain on false plates.

The man was arrested on Monday after an off-duty policeman identified him as the man who had managed to escape the scene of an arrest on June 2 in connection with the theft of an Audi TT car in the U.K. in December last year.

On the first occasion the Briton managed to escape arrest after pushing an officer and fleeing the scene, with his handcuffs already in place. But his freedom ended on Monday when he was recognised when driving a bicycle.

20 minutos reports that when stopped he was also found to be carrying a bag of marihuana inside his rucksack.
