The parents of Mari Luz Cortés, the five year old from Huelva who died earlier this year are organising demonstrations against the judge who allowed her alleged killer to be on the streets.

Juan José Cortés, the father of Mari Luz, has said that ‘the good words are over’ and that he is organising a demonstration to call for the sacking of Judge Rafael Tirado.

The judge is the man who failed in his duty to imprison Santiago del Valle, the convicted paedophile who is believed to have killed 5 year old Mari Luz Cortés in Huelva earlier this year when he should have been imprisoned.

Cortés says the decision of the General Council for Judicial Power, CGPJ, the body which oversees the judiciary in Spain, to merely fine the judge who said he was simply ‘overworked’, was one which made him feel used and abused by the justice system. The judge faces a fine of between 1,000 and 6,000 €.

Cortés says that a demonstration will be held outside the courts in Sevilla on July 7 at noon, and if necessary another will be held in Madrid. He said he was considering starting criminal charges against the judge and the secretary who instructed the case because of the irregularities which took place, irregularities which allegedly resulted in the death of his daughter.
