The Catalan edition of El Mundo reports that the 31 year old man had just suffered an unhappy love affair, and that his graffiti was related to that.
What he did not know was that he chose the façade of the house belonging to the Duke and Duchess of Palma, the Infanta Cristina and Iñaki Urdangarín, to scratch the name of love ‘Lyli’ with a stone.
There were security cameras recording what happened and the man has now been formally denounced by the royal couple.
Reports indicate that the police at the time thought the man was writing something against the Royal Family, and he was arrested in the act by members of the National Police. The youth is reported to have complicated matters further by initially refusing to identify himself.
Finally he said that he was unaware who owned the property, and he now faces a fine for vandalism.
