Supreme Court completes hearing in the March 11th appeal

The Supreme Court in Spain has completed its hearing of the appeals against the sentence terms in the March 11 2004 Madrid Train Bombings case. The judges are expected to announce their verdict at the end of the month.
During the appeal hearing is has become clear that the Prosecutor believes that one of the suspects, Trashorras, knew about the plans to blow up the commuter trains, while another Zouhier, did not. The Prosecutor also wants to see the man known as ‘The Egyptian’ to be found guilty of belonging to a terrorist organisation. He was found not guilty in the original National Court trial.
The other moment of note during the appeal has been when the President of the court interrupted a defence lawyer when he tried to resurrect the conspiracy theory of ETA involvement in the Islamic attack.
