The ex Municipal Real Estate Assessor from Marbella faces charges with five others in the Saqueo case.

The ex Municipal Real Estate Assessor in Marbella Town Hall, Juan Antonio Roca, will be judged in the National Court for the Saqueo case from September 25.

He will be on the accused bench with five others in the case which concerns the alleged diversion of 26.7 million € of council money into private hands by the means of facturas being issued for works and services which were never carried out.

The other five accused in the case, José Luis Sierra, Eduardo Gonzálvez, Purificación Notario, Francisco Javier Herrera and Manuel Jorge Castel, are all linked directly or indirectly to the municipal companies in Marbella.

The late Mayor of the town, Jesús Gil y Gil, was also charged in this case and was ordered to prison at the time by National Court Judge, Juan del Olmo.

Roca was the alleged brains behind the scheme and faces a possible ten years in prison. He is currently granted bail of three million € in the case, which he has failed to raise.
