The group have been carrying out humanitarian duties in Afghanistan for the past four months.
The first 140 Spanish soldiers to return from duty in Afghanistan arrived back in Almería yesterday, welcomed home by a group of family and friends.
They come from the contingent of 425 Spanish soldiers who have been part of the United Nations force which has been trying to stabilise Afghanistan over the past four months. Of the 140 soldiers, 87 of them were from the Spanish Legion.
The Spanish legionnaires said that they were satisfied with the work they have carried out, rebuilding roads and hospital and supporting the local police and army with security at the airports.
