email this article A group of friends are charged with torturing and killing seven cats last year, and posting the abuse on the internet.A group of youngsters who allegedly tortured and then killed a group of cats in Talavera de la Reina earlier in the year, and then who posted a video of their activities on the Internet, will now face charges of animal cruelty.
The El Refugio animal charity has been key in bringing the case against the youngsters, one of whom was forced to resign from the local youth Partido Popular following the revelations. El Refugio has supplied the court with photographs and other documentary evidence, and say that under the Penal Code the men face a possible three months to a year in prison.
The abuse allegedly took place in October last year in a finca at San Román de los Montes in Toledo when the group of friends met to hunt for rabbits. Seven cats were shot dead over two days according to the allegations.
