Union UGT claims that local police response times are as much as two hours in some cases.

Union UGT in Alicante has claimed that the number of night-time local police patrols in the city this summer are half that seen last year. The union says that this is having the effect that police are taking far longer to respond to calls, claiming in some cases response times are as much as two hours.

UGT spokesperson, Marisa Navarro, said that there were only six patrols in operation this year, while last year they were strengthened with four or five more, and that the low level was also placing the police in danger. She has written to the Chief of the Local Police calling for improvements to be made.
