Two injured in Bioplant explosion in Salamanca

It happened at an ethanol production plant at Babilafuente.

Two people have been injured in an explosion at a bio-fuel plant in Salamanca. One suffered burns and the other was affected by the blast wave at the plant at Babilafuente which makes bio-ethanol.

Large flames were seen from the plant after the explosion and the fire was fought by teams from Salamanca, 22 kms away.

The Mayor of Babilafuente, José Manuel Palomero, said the plant would remain closed temporarily while tests and an investigation are carried out.
