It happened at the Playacálida hotel on the Paseo de Velilla.

A seven year old girl has drowned in the swimming pool of a hotel in Almuñécar.
First indications are that death could have been produced by a digestion problem. The child’s mother had to be attended to for shock and was herself taken to the Santa Ana hospital in Motril.

The tragedy happened at 2,30pm yesterday afternoon in the Playacálida Hotel on the Paseo de Velilla in Almuñecar. Medical services were called saying that a child had fainted and was unconscious, but when they arrived they could do nothing to save her life.

The name of the victim has not yet been released, but it is believed that the family was on holiday from Jaén. An autopsy is to be carried out.
