email this article A total of three Britons have been arrested in the case centred on a summer camp at Tossa de Mar in Girona.Three young Britons, two of them monitors at an English language summer camp being held in Tossa de Mar, Girona, have been arrested on charges of slapping the children and demanding money from them. The three are also charged with being drunk at the Tossa Club Aire Libre campsite at the course organised by the Sheffield Centre International.
The camp was being attended by a dozen children aged 10-14 from all over Spain and one girl raised the alarm when she called her parents to say she and the group had locked themselves in one of the bungalows to protect themselves from two of the tutors who were drunk and trying to get in.
Following that other students claimed that they have been slapped and insulated and also small amounts of money were demanded from them by the monitors.
The Britons are now being held in the Mossos d’Esquadra barracks in Blanes and have been named with the initials 26 year old I.W., 24 year old R.S. and A.P whose age has not been released. They face charges of ill-treatment, disobedience of authority, and using inappropriate force. The parents have been called to collect their children from the camp.
