email this article Samy was born at the Selwo park in Estepona on July 19The first Asian elephant to be born in captivity in Spain, Samy, is doing well at the Selwo park in Estepona, Málaga. The elephant, weighing 91 kilos at birth, was born on July 19 and since then has not left her mother’s side.
The baby will feed on her mother’s milk for the next two years, adding some vegetables to the diet in a few months time. She is only the sixth Asian elephant to be born in captivity in Europe.
