The player from Mallorca has won the final of the Toronto Masters where he beat Nicolas Kiefer.

Rafa Nadal is just one victory away from becoming the world’s number one tennis player after defeating Andy Murray in the Master Series semi final, and then Nicolas Kiefer in the final in Toronto, Canada .

The first set against Murray was close, 7-6, but the second more clearly for Nadal 6-3.

The final was easier 6-3, 6-2 for Nadal who cruised to his seventh title of the season. Of the nine finals he has played this season he has only lost two.

Nadal is now just 275 points behind Roger Federer in the world players championship. He said over the weekend that the rankings placed him number two, and that was how he felt. The player has been number two for three years now, and still has respect for the Swiss man whom he refers to as the best tennis player ever.
