The man from Cádiz was imprisoned 13 years ago for a rape which he did not commit.

The Cádiz prisoner, Rafael Ricardi, who recent DNA evidence has established, has been held prisoner for the past 13 years for a rape he did not commit, was released from Topas prison in Salamanca on Friday afternoon.

He left the prison at 3,20pm with his lawyer and close family. The man who is now 48 was clearly nervous and hardly said anything to the press gathered at the gates of the prison, although he did have words of thanks for those who had faith in him, and he hoped that the Supreme Court would now rule on his innocence over the rape in 1995 he did not commit.
