email this article Two members of the Vizcaya terrorist cell are known to be on the run and a search for them has been stepped up.The Ertzaintza, the Basque Regional Police, have announced that they are on high alert amid fears of a large scale ETA attack being on the cards. The warning comes from data obtained by last week’s breaking up of the ETA Vizcaya commando, with the belief being that the attack will be against a town or village celebrating its local fiestas. A search for the missing two members of the Vizcaya call. Asier Borrero Toribio, known as ‘Arrano’ and Aitro Artetxe Rodríguez, both known by the police, is being expanded as a consequence.
There has been some violence overnight in the Basque Country. A group of radicals attacked the car of Modesto Fernández, a member of the Partido Popular with Molotov cocktails, before going on to attack a cash dispenser in a branch of the Caixa Galicia.
It happened in the Santutxo district of Bilbao.
The National Court has announced it is to draw up a report on the assets of the ETA activist José Ignacio de Juana Chaos, who is to be released from prison after serving 20 years this weekend. The court does so on the request of the AVT, Association of Terrorism Victims, and amid reports that the ownership of a flat in San Sebastian was given to his wife to avoid him compensating his victims’ families as ordered to do so by the courts.
It has also been revealed that De Juana will be supplied with a regional police bodyguard on his release from prison on Saturday.
