email this article Three people are in hospital with serious burns.23 people have been treated for burns following ‘La Nit de l’Albà’ in Elche this year, with three of them seriously hurt with third degree burns. A 42 year old man is in the burns unit of Alicante Hospital with burns to his abdomen after taking part in the ‘guerra de las carretillas’. A 41 year old man has burns to his extremities and is being treated in Elche hospital.
La Nit de l’Albà is held on the night of August 13 in Elche, ahead of the famous Misteri d’Elx, when an hour before midnight fireworks are set off in honour of the Patrona of the city, ending with the ‘palmera’ being thrown from the Santa María Basilica, after which a fire fight starts in an area closed off by the City Council.
