The move comes to save costs over the holiday season, but the Home Care teams will continue with their work over the time.

Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice will be closing the In-Patient Unit from 14th August through to the 15th September inclusive. The objective is to save on the cost of paying for substitute medical staff during the holiday absence of the permanent medical personnel. During this period the Home Care teams will continue to care for an average of 150 patients in their homes.

The Foundation is a non-governmental organization (NGO) offering specialist Palliative Care to patients suffering from non-curable cancer living within the province of Málaga. Since the opening of the In-Patient Unit in 2005 with an availability of 9 beds, the annual cost of the high quality care provided by the specialist medical teams has not been covered by donations, income from the Hospice Charity shops, fundraising events, etc.

The friendship and collaboration from supporters is very much appreciated and is fundamental to enable Cudeca to continue offering its “special kind of caring” to patients and their family.
