All the travellers were adult males, and mostly in good health.

23 adult Sub-Saharan male immigrants have been intercepted by the authorities when found drifting seven miles off Castell De Ferro near Motril.

The Red Cross reports that two of them were suffering from burns to their bodies but neither needed admission to hospital. The rest were escorted into Motril port at 2,45pm today.

They now all face repatriation once the process of identification has been carried out.
