The Brazilian player had made it clear that he wanted to leave Real Madrid.

Finally it was not Chelsea, but the Brazilian player Robinho is on the move, to Manchester City. The agreement came just hours ahead of the midnight transfer deadline last night and was confirmed by Real Madrid President Ramón Calderón.

Speaking on VEO TV he had to say the club had accepted the offer of 40 million €, just hours after he had said that nobody would be leaving. The 61 million $ fee is a British record.

Robinho had made it clear, by saying he would even suffer a year without playing, that his main wish was to leave Real Madrid.

Real had also tried to make a last minute deal with Valencia for David Villa, but that proved unsuccessful.
