62 immigrants arrive on Tenerife overnight

Three of the travellers are thought to be under age.

A cayuco boat with 62 people on board has arrived overnight on a beach in the south of Tenerife. The immigrants arrived on the Duque beach in Adeje, according to government sources on the Canaries. Among the travellers were six thought to be children.

The boat came ashore at 11.30pm and those on board were seen to by health and Red Cross workers. They now face repatriation.

It follows the arrival of 85 other travellers, also in good health, who arrived on La Gomera on Sunday.
