The man fogot to tell the Civil Guard that his van was carrying 778 kilos of hashish.

The owner of a van called the Guardia Civil yesterday, saying that after filling his vehicle with petrol at Adra in Almería, four individuals stopped him on the motorway and forced him and his family out of the van.

However the van owner, a Moroccan man who was on his way from north Morocco to Belgium failed to tell the Guardia one important detail – that his van contained 778 kilos of hashish.

The vehicle was finally located just half an hour later close to Castell de Ferro in Granada province, being driven by a 71 year old man who has a previous record for drug trafficking. He told the Guardia that he had been contracted to drive the vehicle to Málaga and that he was unaware that there were drugs inside.

An inspection of the video cameras at the petrol station established that the van was then loaded with the drug and finally the original driver was arrested and admitted that he had been contracted to take the cargo to Belgium.
