The bad unemployment data for August leads most of the Spanish papers this morning.

El Mundo leads with the latest data for unemployment and headlines that Zapatero has beaten the record in Spain for the annual creation of unemployed. 501,705 says the paper.
El Mundo says that in August alone, which it calls the blackest month in history, unemployment was up by 103,085. It says employment agency INEM considers that 45% of the 2.5 million now on the dole queue to be difficult to place.
However Socialist spokesman José Blanco has said that the Spanish are now living better than ever, although they have some problem.
El País says that the crisis has sent half a million people on to the dole queues in Spain in a year. It notes that unemployment is increasing faster than the last recession in 1993.
ABC says it is the worst number for an August since records began.

El Mundo notes that the PP leader, Mariano Rajoy, has called on parents to conscientiously object to the Education department over the new citizenship classes. The paper notes however that other PP leaders in the regions are not so clear on the matter.

El Mundo is clearly angry that a group of National Court judges has criticised its editorial yesterday against Judge Baltasar Garzón, and his moves to set up a census of those to disappear during the Spanish Civil War. Today the paper shows a picture of Garzón with some of his colleagues, and has ‘the untouchables’ as the caption.
It comes after some of the judges have called on the General Council for Judicial Power to issue a resolution against the newspaper for its comments.
El País leads with the story and says that the Government is supporting the judge in his move, and wants to recognise the victims of the Franco regime. The paper has a photo of a researcher taking bones from a common grave.
ABC claims that there is judicial unanimity against Garzón in the case because the investigation is not viable as a penal proceedure. The paper has a photo of a man whose remains are reported to be buried in the Valle de los Caídos. However Eugenio de Azcárraga is still quite alive.
Público supports the judge and highlights his call for more people to denounce the disappearance of members of their families at the time.

More judicial doubts over the fine for the judge who should have imprisoned the man alleged to have killed the Huelva five year old, Mari Luz Cortés. Now the prosecutor says a harsher fine, than the 3,000 € imposed, should be issued.

Some coverage of the presidential race in the United States with El Mundo considering that Sarah Palin is supporting the McCain cause, despite the pregnancy of her daughter. The paper says the ticket has stopped the republican advance and has tripled donations to 10 million dollars in three days.
El País however considers that the image of the vice-presidential candidate is undermining the image of McCain.

Andalucia is to fine doctors who prolong the agony of an ill patient, according to El País today. The fines will be between 60,000 and million € according to planned new legislation in the region which the paper says will be pioneering in the regulation of the treatment of terminal patients.

El País is among the papers to cover the launch of the new Chrome internet browser from Google. The paper considers it’s a direct attack by Google against Microsoft.

And finally,
El Mundo reports that the royal family from Abu Dhabi which has paid 40 million € for Robinho is now offering 160 million € for Ronaldo.
