New forest fire at Monte Pelayo

The fire between Algerciras and Tarifa brke out yesterday afternoon.

In a year where forest fires in Spain are at a ten year low, a blaze between Algeciras and Tarifa remains active this morning.
The blaze broke out in the area known as Monte Pelayo affecting an area of dense scrub.

Infoca fire fighters were called to the scene at 1pm yesterday and so far 150 hectares of land has been affected. Two fire fighting planes and a large capacity helicopter are being used to fight the flames.
