The attack came after the doctor refused to extend the man's sick note
A Santander man who threatened to slit the throat of his doctor has been handed down a year’s prison sentence in the city courts.
The court heard how the accused, José D.V. was angry with the doctor when he refused to sign him more time off work, eight months after undergoing surgery for a blocked aorta.
It happened back in 2003, but the official complaint was not presented until 2007. The patient was also ordered to pay 600 € compensation to the doctor and was ordered to go no closer than 50 metres to him for the next five years.
