Three families start legal action against Boeing following Madrid Spanair crash

Three families have started legal action against Boeing following the Spanair plane accident at Barajas Airport in Madrid last August 20 which resulted in the death of 154 people.
They have also named McDonnel Douglas, now owned by Boeing, complaining about the electrical faults which their lawyers, Ribbeck Law in the United States, claim have been detected in some 15 planes in the MD-80 series.
It comes after the revelation yesterday, first broken in the Wall Street Journal, that the plane’s black box recorders indicated the crash was caused by an electrical fault. This led to the plane’s flaps being in an incorrect position for take-off, and a lack of a warning of this to the pilot.
Meanwhile Sevilla airport was closed between 6pm and 9pm yesterday afternoon following an emergency landing of a private jet which had arrived from Toulouse. The plane finally landed safely with no injuries to the two crew and eight passengers on board.
