Disturbances have broken out in the Sub-Saharan community following a fatal stabbing in the Viviendas district of the town.
The Sub-Saharan residents in the Viviendas areas of Roquetas de Mar in Almería, have said they have always lived peacefully in the area, and the disturbances seen there overnight came because of the ‘nervousness and pain’ following the death of an innocent man.
Security services managed to break up a large group of people and restore order in the early hours of Sunday, and there have been more disturbances overnight with reports of several injuries including one Guardia Civil.
Immigrants stoned an ambulance this morning and also set fire to rubbish containers and blocked streets.
A Senegales man died from stab wounds in the district after trying to separate two men in a fight on Saturday according to reports. Local residents are demanding justice following the death and reports indicate that police are questioning four suspects, but the man thought to have carried out the stabbing has vanished.
Two homes belonging to family members of the man thought to have carried out the stabbing have been set on fire.
Reports indicate the initial trouble between the Senegalese and local gypsies was caused by an argument over drugs.
