Under the plan the prostitutes will also be given legal protection.

The Spanish Ministry for Equality says it wants to introduce legislation before the end of the year which will allow the Government to pay prostitutes who give details of how they have been sexually exploited. The prostitutes would also be given legal protection during the process.

90% of the prostitutes working in Spain are foreigners, and they would be allowed to stay in Spain for a month while they decided if they wanted to denounce those who were exploiting them.

It’s estimated that each year some 500,000 women and young girls come to Europe to be sexually exploited.
