The unsettled conditions are forecast to continue over the weekend.

The areas of Castellón, Alicante, Albacete, Murcia and Málaga are on an Orange Alert from the Spanish Meteorological Office today. Yesterday the weather forced the closure of Valencia Port and the flooding of several roads in the SE of the country. Wettest place was Estubeny which saw 69 litres of rain fall in just an hour. Gandía and Sagunto ports were also closed. The alert remains in place for Almeria until tomorrow.

Under the Orange Alert the chance of torrential rain runs at 70% with rainfall of 40 litres per square metre forecast.

Cloudy or very cloudy conditions continue across the country today, with moderate showers, heavy in places but less frequent in the north during the morning.

It will be slightly cooler too, and the Mediterranean coast will see winds of upto 70kms/hour.
