Storms remain over Spain until Thursday

There has been flooding in some areas following the torrential rain.

Protección Civil has issued alerts this morning for rain in Murcia and storms in Andalucia, Ceuta and Melilla.

As much as 30 litres of rain per square metre could fall in a single hour in the Murcia region, with the Spanish Meteorological Office warning that the storms will remain active across the country until Thursday, especially in Murcia and SE Andalucía. In Andalucía storms can be expected in the provinces of Almería, Granada and Málaga where 40 litres per square metre could fall in an hour.

Last weekend it was the centre of the country which suffered with Toledo registering 86.6 litres of rain per square metre.
In Madrid 11 familes in Rivas-Vaciamadrid and 18 in Coslada had to be evacuated from their homes following flooding after a cloudburst.
