Junta de Andalucía decides on a criteria to decide which illegally built homes should be demolished

The Junta de Andalucía will be using a criteria to decide which illegally-built homes across the region will be demolished. Seven areas are considered particularly problematic – Valle de ALmanzora, Freilas, the Coast of Vejer de la Frontera, Medina Azahara, the Axarquía and Quesada in the Sierra de Cazorla.
The method has been chosen given the high number of illegal properties across the region found on land not designated for building. The first stage of the process is to create an inventory of all the properties, and this is now being compiled by a group of 25 inspectors who will be strengthened to 36 next year.
Then the criteria will be put into play, and this will look at matters such as they type of land occupied by the building, the extent of the building, and whether the building is being used for profit or not. From these points it will then be decided whether the building can be made legal or will have to be demolished.
