Pedro and Violante were forced from their home in Cabezo de Torres, Murcia, in July this year.
Voilante, an 85 year old woman who fought with her husband for her right to stay in the home she had lived in all her life, has died, some reports say from a broken heart, just four months after being re-housed by Murcia City Hall.
The couple were forced out of their home in Cabezo de Torres where they had lived since 1946, last July, as the house was demolished to make way for a new road, the Avenida Miguel Induráin.
A statement from the family said that Violante had died from a broken heart, she was not ill, had no cancer or heart attack. Simply she did not want to go on living away from her old home and the chickens and plants.
They say her husband Pedro is in a bad way and often cries.
Large numbers of people are expected at Violante’s funeral today at 1130 in the church in Cabezo de Torres.
