The claim comes from her lawyer after she has spent two years in prison waiting for her child custody case to come to court.
The Valencian mother and lawyer, María José Carrascosa, who is currently being held in prison in the United States in a child custody case, could be released in April next year.
She has been held for the past two years waiting for the case to be heard, and facing a total of nine charges.
Her lawyer, Scott Finkennauer, now says that case is expected to reach court in February and if all goes well a sentence could be awarded in April.
Carrascosa was imprisoned because in January 2005 she took her daughter to Spain from the United States without the consent of her ex-husband and the child’s father, Peter Innes.
Eight of the nine charges she faces are related to the custody of her child, while the ninth is for ignoring a judicial order to hand over the daughter to her ex husband.
