The Spanish Monarch has had a quiet day, compared to the celebrations for his 70th birthday last year.

King Juan Carlos celebrated his 71st birthday on Monday quietly with his family, and carrying out his usual duties in his office.

It’s normal for the monarch to have a quiet day, although last year he did organize a grand gala to celebrate his 70th birthday in the El Pardo palace.
