Phillip Rushton has already qualified into the second round.
While Andrew Lloyd Webber has been given the task of coming up with Britain’s Eurovision Song this year, and Spain is licking its wounds after last year’s choice of Rodolfo Chikilicuatre, a British resident of Barcelona is among the candidates to represent Spain this time round.
Under Spanish rules you only have to be a resident of Spain for two years to represent the country, and so Phillip Rushton from Barcelona hopes to prove there is life post-Wogan with his song ‘Jericho’.
Actually the song may be too good to qualify. Phillip is currently on the second stage of qualification with votes being cast online, and to get to the next stage he has to be in the Top 50, he’s currently placed 81.
You have until midnight on January 20 to vote for him.
