The new judge is just out of judicial school

The General Council for Judicial Power has assigned a judge fresh out of Judicial School to take on the Astapa case, investigating the corruption based in the Estepona Town Hall.

After the first instruction judge, Isabel Conejo, left the case last year, the body which oversees the judiciary put the position out to tender, but only got one applicant from a judge in Martorell Barcelona whom they ruled should stay with the cases she already had.

The new judge in Estepona will be Jesús Torres Núñez and will take up his position after swearing in with the rest of the new intake destined to Andalucía. That is set to happen in the Andalucía High Court at the end of the month.
