Two more immigrant boats have been intercepted off the shores of Almería province
The captain of an immigrant boat which reached Tenerife this Sunday was arrested by Civil Guard officers as soon as it reached port in Los Cristianos, on the south of the island, after the vessel was spotted eight miles off shore. There were 77 people on board the boat and it’s understood that a number of them could be children. Bone density testing will now take place to determine their age.
As with another vessel which arrived on the island last week, Sunday’s boat is believed to have come from Gambia.
On the Spanish mainland, two patera boats were intercepted off the shores of Cabo de Gata, in Almería province, on Sunday. The 26 passengers were all adult males and in good health.
