The Almería passengers were only found 24 hours after they made the call for help
The eight passengers of an immigrant boat were finally rescued safe and sound early on Wednesday almost 24 hours after they first made the call for help from their boat adrift at sea off the coast of Almería.
They arrived at port in Garrucha on Wednesday morning and are all said to be in good health.
The Civil Guard and Coastguard personnel had been searching for them since 3am on Tuesday, when one of the migrants telephoned the 112 emergency number asking for help. They are understood to have set off for the Andalucía coast from Oran, in Algeria.
On the Canary Islands, a cayuco boat with 65 passengers on board reached port in Los Cristianos, Tenerife, on Tuesday evening after the migrants called for help when they were adrift at sea some 27 miles off shore. An estimated 24 of the passengers could be children.
