37 immigrants have been rescued from a boat off the Costa Tropical. The boat was located on Monday night when 12 miles off Calahanda, Granada. One of the travellers was Asian, the rest all from the Sub-Sahara, with two women among them.

They had called the 112 emergency number when they got into difficulties when their engine gave up and water started to enter the boat, according to the Guardia Civil.

All are said to be in good health after being intercepted and rescued at 1am. They were taken into Motril port where they received medical assistance from the Red Cross, along with dry clothing. They will be held in the Motril immigrant reception centre while the process of identification and repatriation is carried out.
