Vending machines in the Spanish parliament building have been dispensing Coca Cola made in Poland
The President of the Congess of Deputies, a role similar to that of the Speaker in the UK, José Bono, has ordered coca cola cans made in Poland to be removed from the vending machines in the parliament building.
It seems that Bono is keen to promote products made in Spain and took it on himself to investigate the origin of the cans in Congress by checking with the businessman, Arturo Fernández, who holds the concession for the vending machines. Although the contents of the cans are identical, Bono has indicated that it is not appropriate for Polish cans to be used when other are made in Spain. It seems the supplier had been using the Polish cans as they were a few cents cheaper than the Spanish ones.
El Mundo reports that now the Congress vending machines are dispensing Spanish cans.
